You would have had to be living (well, mainly partying) in a cave the past couple of years to miss the unstoppable Lauren Lane making notable dents in the global underground scene. Her 2016 release, the exceptional ‘Diary Of A Madwoman’, soundtracked a multitude of your nights out and raised the roof at Paradise’s Wednesday night DC10 slot too many times to mention!
With her unstoppable momentum now rolling harder than ever 2017 is without doubt looking set to be Lauren’s year. We caught up between shows to found out her current favourite ways to spend time away from the world of music, so keep reading to see what’s Hot Right Now for Lauren Lane.
Destination: I recently went to Havana, Cuba for the first time. It was fascinating to experience a city that has basically been in a time capsule. The city has so much rich history from many different cultures. Driving around in a classic car, touring Ernest Hemingway's villa or hearing live music on the streets, there was so much to explore. A highlight was going to FAC, a huge art and music space. I definitely want to go back and check out other parts of the country. It was so nice to be somewhere you didn't see a Starbucks or any chain store at all. I hope it keeps it's classic charm as tourism continues to reach new heights.
Artist: Richard Garet's 'Perceptual Series' which I saw at Untitled Art Fair are digital colour field paintings. The vibrant colours lit up the entire room; I would love to own one… goals!
Book: ‘Just Kids’ by Patti Smith. It’s a memoir of her days with photographer Robert Maplethorpe in the late 60s and 70s in NYC. This book beautifully describes finding yourself as an artist, youth and the meaning of true friendship, alongside depicting NYC in a time I wish I could've witnessed.
Restaurant: Crossroads in LA is still my favourite vegan restaurant. I like to bring people there and trick them into thinking they are eating non-vegan food. It's so good it works!
Netflix: The OA. I don't watch many shows but I finished the first season of this series in 2 days. It is suspenseful and intriguing... girl-gone-missing thriller meets spiritual mystery.
Movie: 'True Romance'... love this 90s movie. Quentin Tarantino's breakthrough screenplay combines action, humour and of course romance. The cast is iconic.
Hot Pick from The House Of Hot: The black sweater with the logo. Classic!
